10,000 turkeys this Christmas time thanks to Sainsbury’s

Nearly 10,000 surplus turkeys and crowns are being given to our charity members over the festive period thanks to Sainsbury’s and the Faccenda Group.

The supermarket and their poultry supplier are delivering 9,776 surplus birds and crowns to FareShare’s Regional Centres across the UK. This will provide nearly 100,000 portions of turkey to help feed vulnerable people.

Our Director of Food Mark Varney adds We have the capacity and space to handle large volumes of surplus food and to redistribute it to great and wide effect.

‘We would urge other suppliers and food industry companies that have surplus food, particularly turkeys and other meat, to get in touch.’

9,776 surplus turkeys have been delivered to FareShare's 20 UK Regional Centres including MerseysideFareShare Merseyside set about delivering surplus turkeys to charities and community groups in the region.
