The Eat Well Programme
This programme is designed to empower FareShare’s recipient charities to pass on healthy, practical cooking skills to their service users.
Starting 21st May 2013, we have launched a new exciting partnership between FareShare and the national cookery charity Focus on Food provide a ‘Train the Trainer’ cooking courses to charities that receive food from FareShare.
Eat Well train the trainer group
Two representatives from each of the participating charity members will receive training in cookery and teaching skills from Focus on Food and leave equipped with the tools necessary to run cookery classes in their respective organisations.
They can then choose how to apply these skills to better deliver their mission, whether this is connecting with their clients through practical activity, improving health and eating habits among service users or providing clients with concrete skills to enable them to live more independently. FareShare will fund this training, and support these charities by providing each with food hygiene training and start up grant.
Based upon the success of this model, we will look to extend training to other charities in FareShare’s London network later in the year, and then to other locations in the UK.
