FareShare's aims & mission

Our mission: Supporting Communities to Relieve Food Poverty.
"People with low or no income with poor access to affordable nutritious food and that lack the knowledge, skills or equipment to ensure food is safe and prepared properly".

Objectives

Our strategic objectives are set to ensure we help communities address the issues of food poverty and food waste.

FareShare Business: Become the sustainable national food charity

Marketplace: Become the industry benchmark for responsible surplus food redistribution

Community: To provide good quality food, training and advice to local organisations to enhance and support their work with disadvantaged people

Workplace: Provide opportunities for volunteers and work placements to gain new skills and qualifications, and to contribute to their local community

Environment: Provide the food industry with a tailored business solution to help minimise fit-for-purpose food going to landfill as waste

The Future

Through our three-year National Development Plan, which is part funded by the Big Lottery Fund, we aim to:

  • Open four new FareShare Central depots: Birmingham, Bristol/South Wales, North West & North East
  • Expand operations in London, Yorkshire & Scotland
  • Expand our waste minimisation services to provide a one-stop brokerage to help food businesses further 'green' their waste supply chain
