Introducing FareShare Lancashire and Cumbria…our brand new FareShare centre! Based in Preston, the new FareShare team will be working hard to stop food from going to waste and instead get it to those who need it most across the two counties.
The centre is operated by Recycling Lives, an organisation driven by similar passions as FareShare: reducing waste and supporting vulnerable people. Recycling Lives is a national metal and waste recycling company sustaining a Recycling Lives social welfare charity. The charity helps vulnerable people facing homelessness to achieve independence and full-time employment. The FareShare centre will play a part in this too by providing training and work experience.
The Recycling Lives team
Steve Jackson OBE, Founder of Recycling Lives, says ‘We are so pleased to have this opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people in our community. The new FareShare centre will provide some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people with healthy meals, as well as tackling the widespread problem of food waste. We will make sure that fresh, quality and in-date food will go to those who need it the most.
‘Recycling Lives employees have been hard at work speaking to charities, not-for-profits and community groups and getting the centre set up. We can’t wait to get started on the new centre, and bring people from the community together to increase our social impact’.
If you are a charity, not-for-profit or community group providing food to disadvantaged people in Lancashire or Cumbria, get in touch with Recycling Lives FareShare Lancashire and Cumbria to see how they can help.
They are also looking for volunteers to assist in providing this invaluable service, offering full training for all volunteers. If you’re interested, please get in touch to find out more.
