Visit by the Council of Food Policy Advisors

On Monday 22nd July, FareShare was pleased to welcome members of the Council of Food Policy Advisors to the depot in London, to show them FareShare’s work in action.

Following Tony Lowe’s (CEO) presentation to the council in May, the Council were invited to see how FareShare’s work is having a positive impact providing a social solution to the environmental problem of surplus food entering the waste stream.

Made up of academics, experts on food policy & food-industry professionals, the Council was formed in 2008 to provide advice on a wide range of food policy issues, reflecting the growing importance of food policy, and Defra’s new role in co-ordinating this across Government.

Following a tour of the depot, the group went on to Anchor House, a homeless hostel & training centre in Newham, which receives FareShare food.
