A boost for London thanks to funding from LWaRB
FareShare is set to open a new depot in West London in 2010, following a grant from the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB).This is an important step for FareShare, and will ultimately see 800,000 meals worth of food distributed to local people in need. James Cleverly, Chair of LWARB, joined Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, to announce the plans, saying: ‘It is absurd that 8.3 million tonnes of perfectly edible food is chucked away in the UK each year. We are supporting an excellent charity to link up businesses who want to do the right thing with their excess food, with those who will most benefit.’
