FareShare congratulates former CEO Anthony Lowe on MBE honour
Saturday 16 June 2012: FareShare warmly congratulates former CEO Anthony Lowe who has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honour List. Mr Lowe received the award for services to the relief of food poverty.
Mr Lowe was responsible for establishing FareShare as an independent charity in 2004. During this time FareShare was increasingly recognised by the food industry and government for its role in addressing hunger and food waste in the United Kingdom.
Mr Lowe was CEO of FareShare for eight years from 2002 to 2010. Throughout his leadership the charity increased the number of meals it provided to people in need and more than doubled the number of people it supported to 29,000 a day.
Lindsay Boswell, CEO, FareShare said: “The foundations laid by Anthony have allowed FareShare to grow and I am proud to say we now support 36,500 people per day, providing more than 8.60 million meals to people in need each year.”
