Volunteers scoop Team London Award

FareShare London’s dedicated team of volunteers scooped a top award at the Mayor of London’s Team London Awards. They were recognised in the team category for their tireless work sorting surplus food and delivering it to 100 charities within Fareshare’s network across the capital. In an average month, these volunteers spend 1,500 hours sorting food, collating orders and managing food deliveries.  Fareshare could not exist without them.

Volunteers in London distributed 720.25 tonnes of food in the last year, which is enough for 1.7 million meals. These meals serve a wide variety of vulnerable groups across the city, from homeless people, refugees, disadvantaged children, women who have suffered domestic abuse, to the elderly and those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.
